Photography Workshop Recap!!!

Photobucket

Last Saturday Jennifer and I held our first Photography Workshop for Beginners. We had a really great time getting to meet all of the attendees and we felt like it went really well! Based on what everyone who attended said, we feel it was a success and look forward to doing more in the future. Everyone said they learned something new and felt it was a tremendous help to understanding your cameras and the fundamentals better through the hands-on instruction.

Above are a few pictures, but unfortunately the flash was inadvertently turned off on the point-and-shoot, so these pictures are pretty grainy and dark. (Thanks Katie, for helping to capture part of the day.)

Future Workshops::

We will definitely hold another workshop or two in the fall; likely the beginners workshop again as well as a more intermediate version that will include models and a live shoot. As of now we do not have a date selected, but if you are interested in being on the mailing list for our future workshops, please send me an email and we'll make sure to keep you updated! All of you who attended saturday will be automatically added.

Thank you to everyone who attended last Saturday and helped make our first workshop a success! We can't wait to see your work and how you evolve from here!

Enjoying the Cool Weather

Right now I am sitting in my parents living room in Pinetop, AZ enjoying the cool weather. I needed to get away from the heat, especially being pregnant!

I did a ton of sessions this last week so i'm sitting here working on pictures and trying to catch up! I am still checking email, so if you need to get ahold of me that is the best way. Melanie is in the office as well a little each day and will be checking voice mails.

My Three Sons Designs

A month or so ago I met an awesome lady, Jen. She owns a really cool company called My Three Sons Designs. She makes amazing blankets, onsies, burp cloths, and other yummy things for babys. You should check out her website and buy everyone you know who has a baby one of her soft baby blankets. I bought one for Kailee and she is going to LOVE it.

Well we met up this week and I took some pictures for her for her site. I have only processed a few of them so far, but wanted to show you some of her products for little girls! More pictures will be coming as I finish up the boy stuff.

I also want to thank Blissful Living Studio for allowing me to use the studio to shoot these in. If you want to do something really fun this summer check out some of the classes that the studio is offering.

Dyer and Ferris, LLC

It's always fun to do something totally different that i've never done before. I get a little nervous and excited at the same time. That is what happened when Mike Dyer, from Dyer and Ferris, LLC called and asked me to take headshots of his Law firm. I was excited to do something a little different.

We got some great shots... very corporate! We pulled out the lighting and did some basic set up shots that they could use on their website.

I thought I would share a few!

Wedding Wire

I have joined a community called Wedding Wire, which is a great resource for all Bride and Grooms! It's actually affiliated with Martha Stewart. They have wedding websites, wedding vendor reviews, and a ton more to offer.

I would love it if some of my past clients would leave a review on the site for me! Even Portrait clients can leave a comment, as I want all people to know how I work.

If you click the link below it should take you to a location to leave a review.

Another Great Bride Recommendation

A couple of years ago I photographed Gary and Kims wedding over at the WigWam Resort. It was an awesome event and my husband and I got to know Gary and Kim pretty well! I love that about my job! Well today i got a surprise email off of LinkedIn, a business resource and Kim posted a recommendation about me. I love hearing things like this because it makes me soooo happy! So I thought i would share it with you all too!

--------

"Kim's photography at our wedding was the highlight of the entire event, because after over 2 years we still look at the album and feel as if it were yesterday. Kim was able to work with us and capture a moment in our lives that we will remember forever. Her talent is truly inspirational, and everyone who sees our wedding photos comments on how we have "the best photography" they have ever seen- and we "must have paid a fortune...". Kim's prices were fair and we got more than expected!"

--------

Thanks Kim and Gary!!!

The Price of Photography.....

I'm always on other photographers blogs and reading what everyone is up to. Today I was checking out a local photographers blog, Ana Frias , and I loved a post that she put up on the Price of Photography.

Many people often wonder why photographers charge so much for their services. It is hard to explain all the details of what go into a shoot or a wedding, but once you understand everything that professional photographer does to make sure that you get the PERFECT image, I think it starts making more sense.

Ana pointed out an article from another photographers website and I think it really does a good job explaining everything, so I wanted to share it. You can find the article here.

For those who use Blogger... a little tip.

I have loved getting everyones comments lately... I think I'm going to run a contest every couple weeks to make sure you all keep commenting!!!

However, the bummer thing with blogger is that if you don't have a blog with blogger I am not able to email you back to thank you for commenting... and the people who do have a blog with blogger only some of you have your settings set up so that I can quickly email you back. So I thought I would hand out a blogger tip that I recently found out about.

How to allow people to email you back when you comment with your blogger account.

You will find everything in the profile view of your blogger account.

1) When you log in to your blog go to edit your profile.

2) In the first section you will see a bunch of questions under Privacy. Make sure show your profile is clicked and also the show my email address box. - This will allow people to see who you are and when you post a comment on someones site they will be able to directly email you to thank you for the comment or answer your question.

3) Under the identity section make sure you put in the email address you want people to email you back at.

It's really simple to do and makes a huge difference for those who want to get to know you a little better when you comment!

Let me know if you all have any questions and also if this was helpful.

Pug Meeting and Model Shoot

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Every 3rd Thursday a bunch of photographers gather at my studio and we talk about photography, life, and have a wonderful time getting to know each other. It's one of my favorite times of the month! Yesterday we did things a little different. We did a night time shoot. Jefferson Todd, Stuart Thurkill, and I all brought models and lighting equipment of our choice. We then had everyone who attended split up into groups and we went out around downtown Mesa and had fun shooting models. We had a blast and everyone did such a great job.

I was excited too because JT reminded me to take a picture of the group and i've been wanting to do that forever!! So the pictures above are of everyone who participated except one of the models, who had to take off early. Also, for those of you who have been wanting to see my studio, this picture is a sneak peak!!!

I do love taking pictures at night, it's a lot of fun and i'm having a great time playing around with techniques. I had the wonderful fortune of having Jessamy come out and be my model. We wanted to do funky, fun, and crazy, and she pulled it off!!! Thanks so much Jessamy. Below are some of my favs!!!

I think we are up again!!!

I think we are up and running again with the blog! If you find things that aren't working please let me know!! I'm so thankful to WebFixer, a random person on the blogger groups page, who totally helped lead me to the right direction in fixing the problem! I understand some HTML and can usually get by pretty good, but when it comes to fixing things like this I don't know where to start, so i'm so thankful to those who help out!!!! Thanks:):)

Blog Issues

Well everyone, as you can see we are having some major issues with our blog... it is not pretty at all and things are not working correctly.

I have been trying to talk to blogger about why it all the sudden stopped working correctly, but it's taking a lot of time... so please bear with the ugliness as we try to get everything fixed.
